Getting started

When you will use GLgen for the first time, you will be asked questions. Take the time to answer them correctly since this will be used to configure GLgen correctly.

Step #1: Select your language.

Step #2: Type in your tax rate (combine if necessary for example, in Canada, there's a federal and provincial tax).

Step #3: Type the name of the store you shop. This box will come back until you leave the field blank. You can enter up to 10 stores.

Step #4: Once you have entered your stores, you will be asked to create your list. You now have to enter every item you buy. First enter a description, then a default quantity and the price, select the store you usualy buy this item, select the category and finally select if the item is taxable or not.

Making a grocery list

To make a grocery list, you browse the left pane and click on any item required these items will be displayed in the right pane. A total will be displayed at the bottom. Once you have selected every item you wish to buy you click on the button with the yellow notepad and a pen. This will generate a list and display it in your internet browser. You can then print the list and do your grocery

Edit your master list (left pane)

You can edit any item on the left pane by selecting the item then clicking on the big pencil button in the toolbar. This will bring a dialog box that will allow you to change any value you need to change. Do not forget to save your changes. You can also add items to your list. First select the category in which you want to add an item. Then click on the white paper button. A dialog box will be displayed, enter all required information then press ok. Do not forget to save your changes by clicking on the disquette button.

Edit your grocery list (right pane)

You can edit any item on the right pane by double cilcking on the value you need to change, then enter the change you wish. For example, you added an item that has a quantity of 2 by default, but you need 3, double click on the quantity and type 3 then press enter. This will change you current list. No changes will be made to you master list. If you find you are changing the same item over and over, you should consider editing your master list.
